6 Early Holiday Shopping Tips

Now that Halloween is over, the Winter holiday shopping rush is beginning. Stores will become more crowded, and the barrage of online deals, emails, ads, and banners may overwhelm. You can get through the season without losing your mind or losing control of your expenses. Here are some ideas to help:

1) Start early: The best deals may be available all year round, depending on what you want to buy. If you have finished already, then congratulations! If not, then it’s a good idea to start now instead of waiting and hoping to stumble upon the perfect gifts at the right prices.

2) Make a list: No matter how often you shop or for however many people, write everything down, no matter how large or small. That will help you to stay on track, focusing on what to buy and how much to spend. Don’t forget about the people who receive holiday tips (doorman, nanny, maid, mail carrier, etc.)

3) Research online: If you have a general idea of what to buy, but you need some assistance in narrowing down brands, styles, sizes, models, or prices, then look for online reviews. You can see what is popular, where it is available, and how the feedback looks, especially if it is negative.

4) Take advantage of Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals after Thanksgiving: A word of caution applies here, with the long lines, aggressive crowds, and limited merchandise supply, but if you are looking for great deals, then these days could help you. You can sign up for emails from your favorite stores to receive alerts for special deals on the items that you have targeted.

5) No cost holiday shipping: If you have started early, then you will not need to worry about last-minute shipping, but there are a number of retailers that will offer free delivery and a guaranteed delivery date before major holidays for a minimum purchase amount. This shipping discount can help you finish early and know that your packages will be ready when you need them.

6) Do it yourself: Some of the nicest presents that you can give do not have to cost a fortune. Many people will appreciate something original, especially from the creatively inclined. You can consider making food, arts and crafts, jewelry, picture frames, notes, and cards if you wish to avoid the shopping frenzy altogether.

Did you know? Some retailers offer discounts on their branded gift cards if you start early and ask what is possible.

Rather, as noted previously, IEI made these changes to seek to enhance the manner by which it runs PAAM, and thus each change, individually or in the aggregate, might have impacted the performance of PAAM (either positively or negatively, depending upon the efficacy of the changes(s)) after their implementation.  For more information regarding any of these material modifications, please contact IEI at 1-800-504-8505.
